WRITE ON WHITE

溜白

2017

porcelain 瓷

8 cm x 7 cm x 7 cm

Associate to the experience of reading, I depicted my love and hate toward texts, books, languages and communication. A large piece of thin porcelain slap engraved a quotation of a French philosopher, Jacques Derrida (who is known for deconstruction and différance), and divided into many small pieces with the process of shredding by hand. These small pieces were then connected together as a ball shape with texts facing inside. I would like to provide people a new experience of reading, such as reading without page-ordering, reading with sneaking from the gaps in between, holding a breakable and unflippable book, or rolling the book to read, etc.
